Renewable energy integration into grid systems and cross-border
energy trade has been the focus of many scholars, researchers, and
leaders in the energy, economics and sustainability fields as
evidence, particularly in Europe and America, tend to show the
economic, environmental, and social benefits from such energy
market integration. Regions endowed with plenty of renewable energy
resources such as The Association of Southeast Asian Nations
(ASEAN) and North-East Region (NER) of India – which aim to
achieve more integrated markets, need to address the issue of
renewable energy integration and cross border energy trade in a
more explicit way as it could be a main driving force for
sustainable development. This book provides analytical perspectives
on drivers, constraints, opportunities and barriers, as well as
measures that countries could take to address issues -- from
institutional, financial, and human resources -- to realise the
potential benefits from renewable energy trade, inter-grid
connectivity and other market integration mechanisms. Given its
rich natural resource base and strategic location, the NER has the
potential to become a powerhouse in terms of energy, trade, and
investment. The essays suggests ways for NER India and ASEAN to
maximize the amount and value of renewable energy in its
electricity system and its impact on cross-border energy trade. By
examining successful international experiences from ASEAN,
Australia, Europe, and North America as lessons learned, it
identifies the necessary conditions - grid flexibility, policy,
market and regulatory solutions for clean energy trade. The book
adds to existing research on low carbon development as well as
policy making by focusing on renewable energy integration across
the borders, rather than at the national level while addressing
power system flexibility challenges, solutions and priorities
needed at national level. This detailed and timely volume will be
of use to those working in the fields of Climate Change,
Environment & the Global South, Environmental Politics,
Environment & Resources, Environment and Sustainability,
Politics & International Relations, and Energy Trade.

Fragmentation characteristics influence mucking productivity,
crusher throughput and energy consumption, plant efficiency, yield
and recovery, or the price itself of the end product in the case of
industrial minerals and aggregates. Reliable, quantitative
measurements of fragment sizes are instrumental in controlling and
optimizing the blasting results. Measurement and Analysis of Blast
Fragmentation presents the latest developments in rock
fragmentation measurement techniques and analysis. It includes
image analysis and machine vision techniques, either photographic
or 3D such as stereo-photogrammetry and laser triangulation; case
studies of fragmentation measurements in a variety of situations
and used in different optimization and control tasks; fragmentation
analysis and new suitable functional descriptions of size
distributions, and model-scale fragmentation tests with weighed
size distribution data. The contributions in this book were
presented at the workshop Measurement and Analysis of Blast
Fragmentation, which was hosted by Fragblast 10 (New Delhi, India,
November 2012), provide a snapshot of the activity in rock
fragmentation measurements and analysis around the world, and are a
must-have reference for engineers and researchers working in rock
blasting.
There is considerable scope for improving the outcome of any
blasting operation through basic understanding and application of
the principles of blasting science and technology. The main
objective of Performance of Explosives and New Developments is to
sensitize the practitioner to critically examine the various
empirical approaches in blasting which may have been in use for a
long time, but lack any sound material basis. On the other hand,
where the empirical approaches have proven of value, significant
additional improvement can be achieved through better understanding
of the underlying process. None of the components involved in a
blasting operation should be treated in isolation, as they are all
interlinked. Fragmentation of rock by blasting represents the first
stage in the size reduction process which is essential to
extraction of valuable minerals and metals. Therefore,
understanding the performance of the explosive and initiators under
actual field conditions, and critical assessment of the blast
results afterwards are central to effective blast design, improved
productivity, and novel applications. Performance of Explosives and
New Developments presents the state of the art on explosive energy,
its utilization in blasting, and some new developments and
innovative applications, and is aimed at academics and
practitioners in the field.

informative case studies, the chapters discuss the use of the
satellite remote sensing and GIS-based systems for managing urban
storm water; for flood and soil erosion management; for mapping
groundwater zones; for crop production, including measuring soil
moisture and aridity; for gauging the impact of climate change; for
evaluating glacier change dynamics; for assessing the impact of
urban growth on water resources; for measuring the degradation of
rivers; and more. This peer-reviewed volume imparts important
information on spatial information techniques that are used for
understanding the root causes behind the degradation of our water
resources. GIScience for the Sustainable Management of Water

Metal Organic Frameworks: Fundamentals to Advanced offers a
substantial and complete treatment of published results. The book
includes a summary of current research, along with an in- depth
explanation of Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and applications in
this versatile area. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are structured
frameworks made up of metal ions and organic molecules. These
materials are similar to sponges and can absorb, retain and remove
molecules from their pores. As a result, metal-organic frameworks
(MOFs) are the most rapidly evolving substances in chemistry with
the highest surface areas due to their well-ordered pore
structure. The exciting and vast surface area allows for more
chemical reactions and molecule adsorption, hence this new resource
provides the newest updates on the topics covered.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques
play an important role in our daily lives by enhancing predictions
and decision-making for the public in several fields such as
financial services, real estate business, consumer goods, social
media, etc. Despite several studies that have proved the efficacy
of AI/ML tools in providing improved healthcare solutions, it has
not gained the trust of health-care practitioners and medical
scientists. This is due to poor reporting of the technology,
variability in medical data, small datasets, and lack of standard
guidelines for application of AI. Therefore, the development of new
AI/ML tools for various domains of medicine is an ongoing field of
research. Machine Learning in Healthcare: Fundamentals and Recent
Applications discusses how to build various ML algorithms and how
they can be applied to improve healthcare systems. Healthcare
applications of AI are innumerable: medical data analysis, early
detection and diagnosis of disease, providing objective-based
evidence to reduce human errors, curtailing inter- and
intra-observer errors, risk identification and interventions for
healthcare management, real-time health monitoring, assisting
clinicians and patients for selecting appropriate medications, and
evaluating drug responses. Extensive demonstrations and discussion
on the various principles of machine learning and its application
in healthcare is provided, along with solved examples and
exercises. This text is ideal for readers interested in machine
learning without any background knowledge and looking to implement
machine-learning models for healthcare systems.
The volume addresses a selection of diverse topics in such areas
as: machine learning based intelligent systems for healthcare
applications of artificial intelligence the Internet of Things,
intelligent data analytics techniques, intelligent network systems
and applications, and inequalities and process control systems.
